MultiChoice Group has announced that Showmax will close on 30 April 2026 as part of its plan to combine its streaming services into the DStv Stream platform.
Showmax subscribers who qualify will have access to the DStv Stream Compact Package at no additional charge until the end of May 2026, giving them an opportunity to experience a larger entertainment service that includes Showmax Originals, as well as live television and sports and an expanded catalogue of international and local content.
After the trial period, users who would like to continue with the platform will be able to subscribe at the discounted price of GH¢75 per month for twelve months, provided that their subscription remains current and active. This will represent significant savings versus the normal Compact bouquet price.
All users of the new combined platform will have greater access to view a wider range of content by including on-demand content in conjunction with live broadcasts, including SuperSport coverage for sporting events, films, series, children’s programming and local productions. Additional features will include offline downloads, tools for managing data and the ability to select a “Watch From Start” option.
Current DStv Compact, Compact Plus and Premium subscribers will receive Showmax content via DStv Stream without paying anything additional.
