China, Japan and the Philippines hit by a succession of storms
Millions of people across Asia are facing heavy rain, strong winds and flooding as three storms sweep through the region within the same week.
Dolphin hits China
The remnants of Typhoon Dolphin, which struck eastern China earlier this week, are moving inland as a weakened tropical storm.
Despite losing strength, Dolphin is expected to bring torrential rain to Beijing, with authorities continuing to warn of flooding and other weather-related risks.
The storm previously forced large-scale evacuations and disrupted transport across parts of eastern China, including Shanghai.
Chan-Hom lashes Japan
Japan has also been affected by Tropical Storm Chan-Hom, which lashed the Kanto region, including Tokyo, overnight.
The storm has since weakened into a tropical depression, but heavy rain and strong winds have continued to affect parts of the region.
Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious as the unstable weather persists.
Peilou moves away
Elsewhere in the Pacific, Tropical Storm Peilou is moving eastward off the eastern coast of the Philippines and away from Asia.
Although it is no longer directly threatening the Philippines, the country has already suffered significant damage from a combination of storms and seasonal monsoon rains.
Philippines death toll rises
At least 26 people have died in the Philippines following floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains and a succession of storms, including Dolphin.
Communities across affected areas have faced dangerous flooding, while emergency services continue responding to the impact of the severe weather.
Another storm forms
The region is not yet clear of the threat of severe weather. A new tropical storm, Nangka, has formed south of Japan and is forecast to move north.
Its development adds to concerns about further heavy rain and strong winds across parts of the region.
Asia faces continued weather threat
With several storms affecting different parts of Asia at the same time, authorities across China, Japan and the Philippines remain on alert.
While Dolphin and Chan-Hom have weakened, the continued development of new systems such as Nangka means residents in vulnerable areas could face further disruption in the coming days.
