Donald Trump says he is “not happy” with the United Kingdom after Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Britain would not be drawn into a wider war involving Iran.

Trump renewed his call for allies to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route, warning it would be “very bad for the future of NATO” if countries failed to assist.

Meanwhile, Friedrich Merz, Germany’s chancellor, said the conflict was “not a matter for NATO,” even as the alliance said members had already increased security operations in the Mediterranean.

The tensions come as Israel reported launching a large wave of strikes on Iranian cities including Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz.

Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks across the region. Qatar said it intercepted a second wave of missiles, while drone strikes sparked fires at an oil industrial area in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

The escalating attacks highlight growing fears of a wider regional conflict in the Middle East.
