Two Young Children Die in Wolverhampton House Fire

Two young children have tragically died following a house fire in Wolverhampton, prompting an urgent investigation into the cause of the blaze.

Emergency services were called to Mason Street, just south of the city centre, at around 8:30pm on Friday after reports of a fire at a residential property.

Firefighters entered the home wearing breathing apparatus and managed to rescue two young children from inside. Despite efforts to save them, including advanced life support at the scene, both children were later pronounced dead, according to West Midlands Police.

Two other children and a woman had already managed to escape the property before emergency crews arrived. They were assessed by paramedics at the scene and did not require hospital treatment.

The house sustained extensive damage in the fire, and a police cordon has been put in place as investigators work to determine how the blaze started.

Authorities say the cordon is expected to remain for some time while forensic examinations are carried out.

In a statement, police expressed their condolences, describing the incident as “heartbreaking” and extending their thoughts to the victims’ family and all those affected.

Officers are now appealing to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
