South African music producer Kelvin Momo has avoided a major legal battle after a R2.8 million lawsuit against him was officially withdrawn following an out-of-court settlement.
According to reports, the case—filed by Australian promoter Ace Events Group—was taken to the Johannesburg High Court in an attempt to liquidate Kelvin Momo Productions.
Case Withdrawn After Settlement
Court documents show that both parties reached an agreement, leading to the withdrawal of the case. Each side reportedly agreed to cover its own legal costs, bringing the dispute to an end.
The withdrawal notice was submitted by the promoter’s legal representatives and confirmed that the matter had been settled.
Dispute Over Cancelled Performances
The legal dispute stemmed from the planned Kelvin Momo Australian Tour 2024.
Under the agreement, Kelvin Momo was expected to perform two shows:
- Melbourne on November 2, 2024
- Perth on November 3, 2024
The promoter alleged that the artist failed to honor the agreement after missing flights on multiple occasions, which ultimately led to the cancellation of both events.
Financial and Logistical Fallout
The promoter claimed that tickets had already been sold and that refunds had to be issued to fans, including those who had traveled and booked accommodation.
Attempts to resolve the matter outside court reportedly failed, with the promoter alleging that communication broke down before legal action was taken.
Resolution Reached
With the settlement now reached, both parties have moved past the dispute, ending months of legal tension and uncertainty surrounding the case.
