Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has publicly criticised Air Peace after being stranded alongside other passengers at London Gatwick Airport.
The actress shared her frustration in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, describing the situation as unacceptable. According to her, passengers—including elderly individuals—had been left waiting since early morning without clear communication or adequate support from the airline.
Akindele explained that after hours of delay, passengers were informed the disruption was caused by a bird strike. They were subsequently promised hotel accommodation, but she claimed many were still left at the baggage claim area hours later without access to their luggage, food, or rest.
She expressed concern over the condition of vulnerable travellers, noting that elderly passengers were struggling while families remained exhausted and uncertain due to the lack of updates.
In response, Air Peace acknowledged the situation and apologised for the inconvenience. The airline stated that safety and operational efficiency remain its top priorities, adding that unforeseen circumstances such as technical or environmental issues can lead to delays. It assured passengers that efforts were underway to provide necessary assistance.
However, in a follow-up post, Akindele maintained that conditions had not improved, urging the airline to release luggage and provide immediate care for affected passengers.
