NFA launches Film Development Fund to strengthen Ghana’s movie industry growth

Kafui Danku, CEO of the National Film Authority, reiterated the commitment of the National Film Authority to the development of the film and audio visual industries through investments and strategic partnerships.

According to her, the involvement of government, Corporate Ghana, finance houses, and development partners is paramount for the sustainability of the industry.

At the launch, two committees – the Fund Management Committee and the Film Classification Committee – were inaugurated to enhance governance, accountability, and regulations within the industry.

The Fund Management Committee is mandated to manage and guide the administration of the Fund. Meanwhile, the Film Classification Committee will be responsible for responsible content classification within the film industry in Ghana.

She also reiterated the commitment of the National Film Authority to the promotion of local contents, increasing access to Ghanaian movies and improved movie theatres within the country.

The launching ceremony involved the participation of government officials, members of the NFA Governing Board, film makers, actors, distributors, broadcasters, corporate entities, development partners, and other stakeholders within the creative arts industry.

She thanked President John Dramani Mahama for his continued support for the creative arts sector in Ghana.
