MUSIGA hosts Nigerian delegation for creative economy study tour

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has received a high-level delegation from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies of Nigeria, which is in Ghana on a study tour themed around the creative economy.

Led by Prof Dabin Haruna Khitwe, mni, the delegation is among the members of Study Group Five of Senior Executive Course 48. The study tour is one of the annual programs mandated by the President of Nigeria as a tour of the various sectors of the country’s economy and government.

This year’s program, which was chosen by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is titled “The Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development in Nigeria” with focus on the relationship between creativity and the markets in the digital age.

According to Prof Dabin Haruna Khitwe, the delegation had interacted with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, and other government agencies in Ghana. “We have also conducted tours in different parts of Africa and other places; we will prepare a report to submit to our president,” he said.

President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons welcomed the delegation and mentioned some of the issues facing the music industry in Ghana, adding that the Creative Arts Agency will play.
