The sentencing was handed down in a Los Angeles federal court by Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett, who also imposed two years of probation and a $10,000 fine.

The case is part of a wider investigation into the death of Perry, who died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54. The “Friends” star was found in his jacuzzi, with ketamine listed as the primary cause of death by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

Prosecutors said Iwamasa played a central role in Perry’s final days, acting as his assistant, drug supplier, and injector. He pleaded guilty in August 2024 to conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death and became a key witness in the broader case.

The court heard that Perry had been receiving legal ketamine treatment for depression, but later sought additional supplies through illegal channels. Iwamasa admitted to sourcing the drug from multiple individuals, including a doctor and a street dealer.

Two others involved in the case have already been sentenced: Salvador Plasencia, who received two and a half years in prison, and Erik Fleming, who received a two-year sentence.

Perry, who rose to global fame as Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom “Friends,” remains one of the most recognisable television actors of his generation.
