Zimbabwean and South African influences combine in a new Afro-pop and tribal house anthem celebrating commitment and culture
Multi-genre producer, DJ and engineer DrexxBeats has joined forces with singer and songwriter Sineym for a new single titled “Sikhulekile”, a song inspired by love, commitment and the rich musical traditions of Africa.
Released on July 15, the track blends Zimbabwean musical influences with South African Afro-pop and house elements to create a sound that celebrates romance while highlighting the beauty of African culture.
DrexxBeats said the vision behind the song was to create music that remained authentic to African roots while connecting with listeners across different backgrounds.
“The vision was to create a song that feels authentic to who we are as Africans,” he said.
By combining Zimbabwean drums and percussion with South African melodic influences, DrexxBeats introduces what he describes as “tribal house” — a modern sound inspired by traditional African rhythms.
The song’s title, “Sikhulekile”, translates to “hear us out” and reflects the promises couples make when choosing a life together. The lyrics explore themes of loyalty, trust, companionship and building a future with someone special.
Rather than focusing only on romance, the song also celebrates African identity and the cultural connections shared across Southern Africa.
Sineym’s soulful vocals add emotional depth to the track, bringing warmth and sincerity to the message of love and commitment.
The singer explained that the song was created to connect with different audiences, from Afro-pop and house music fans to couples celebrating important milestones.
“It has the energy that Afro pop and house music fans will connect with, but it also carries a message of love and commitment,” Sineym said.
The artists hope “Sikhulekile” will become a soundtrack for weddings, anniversaries and other celebrations where people come together to honour love.
The release also represents another important moment in DrexxBeats’ musical journey following his participation in the 2026 AmaGroove Residency, a creative programme that connected African artists with international musicians and producers from Denmark.
The residency encouraged collaboration, experimentation and the exploration of new sounds while keeping African storytelling at the centre of the music.
With “Sikhulekile”, DrexxBeats and Sineym aim to showcase the growing influence of African sounds on the global music scene, proving that traditional rhythms and modern production can come together to create something fresh and meaningful.
