Kane and Putellas Win Ballon d’Or as All 2026 Award Winners Are Revealed

England captain Harry Kane and Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas have won the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or awards at the 2026 ceremony in London, with several other football stars also recognised for their performances over the past season.

Kane became the first Englishman in 25 years to win the men’s award, following Michael Owen’s success in 2001. The Bayern Munich striker was rewarded for an outstanding campaign that saw him score 61 goals in 51 appearances for the German club as they secured a domestic league and cup double. He finished the season with 73 goals for club and country. <Cite refs={[“turn775355view0″,”turn775355view2”]}/>

Putellas claimed the women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time after helping Barcelona enjoy a successful 2025–26 campaign. The midfielder later joined English club London City Lionesses after spending 14 years at Barcelona.

However, Kane’s victory was briefly the subject of confusion before the ceremony after an article announcing him as the winner appeared on the official Ballon d’Or website several hours before the results were due to be revealed.

Organisers later explained that prepared articles about multiple nominees had been published inadvertently. The premature publication was not intended to confirm the winner, although Kane ultimately claimed the award.

Young talent and coaching honours

Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal won the men’s Young Talent of the Year award for the third consecutive time, while his teammate Vicky López collected the women’s honour for a second successive year.

Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente was named Men’s Coach of the Year, while Barcelona manager Pere Romeu received the women’s coaching award.

Spain also celebrated success in the goalkeeper categories. Unai Simón won Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, while Barcelona’s Cata Coll was named Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

Clubs and top scorers recognised

Paris Saint-Germain won the Men’s Club of the Year award, retaining the honour for a second consecutive year. Barcelona claimed the Women’s Club of the Year award, continuing its strong record in women’s football.

Kane added another individual accolade by winning Men’s Striker of the Year, while Mexico international Charlyn Corral received the women’s award for her goalscoring performances with Pachuca.

Arsenal and England winger Bukayo Saka was presented with the Socrates Award, which recognises humanitarian work and social initiatives. The award highlighted his charitable efforts through his Big Shoe initiative.
