Audrey Agbeve

At 13, Audrey Agbeve didn’t realize her world was blurry. She assumed everyone struggled to read distant chalkboards or recognize faces from afar. That changed the day she received her first pair of glasses. When she put them on, the world sharpened instantly — colours brightened, edges sharpened, and hidden details emerged. That quiet transformation left a lasting impression: science could change lives.

Inspired by that moment, Audrey pursued biomedical engineering, where health meets technology. During her undergraduate studies, she became interested in artificial intelligence and developed an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot for hypertension education as her final-year project.

Her idea was practical. In many low-resource settings, complex digital health platforms fail to gain traction, but WhatsApp is already widely used. By building on a familiar platform, she showed that innovation can be simple and effective when it fits into everyday life.

Now working with the AI and Digital Health subunit at KNUST’s KCCR, Audrey champions sociotechnical solutions — tools designed not just to function, but to fit real systems and communities. Her goal is clear: scalable, lasting digital health solutions for underserved populations.
