SA Stars Danica De La Rey Jones and Masasa Mbangeni Join International Thriller ‘Sniper: No Nation’
South African actresses Danica De La Rey Jones and Masasa Mbangeni have landed roles in the international action film Sniper: No Nation, marking another major step for local talent on the global stage.
Both actresses are well known for their standout performances on eTV’s long-running soapie Scandal!, where they gained widespread recognition and built strong fan followings.
In the new film, they join a global cast led by Chad Michael Collins and Tom Berenger in a high-stakes military thriller centred on elite sniper Brandon Beckett, who is forced into a dangerous rescue mission after his allies are captured and targeted for execution.
Jones plays the role of Skylar, while Mbangeni takes on the character of Angel. South African actor Sizo Mahlangu also features in the film as Zondi, further highlighting strong South African representation in the production.
The cast also includes international actors such as Ryan Robbins, Josh Brener and Jason K. Ralph in key supporting roles.
Jones continues to build a growing international profile, having previously appeared in productions including Netflix’s Unseen, Hunting Jessica Brok and Outgunned, showcasing her versatility in action roles.
For Mbangeni, the role adds to a significant year that also saw her complete her BA Honours in Dramatic Arts at Wits University in 2025.
The casting news comes shortly after the announcement that Scandal! will conclude its long-running television journey in 2026 after two decades on air.
Sniper: No Nation officially premiered on Apple TV+, further expanding the reach of South African actors in global film productions.
