Davido Hints At Leaving Music Soon

Afrobeats superstar Davido has hinted that he could eventually leave music to pursue his ambition of making billions, following a heated exchange with Nigerian rapper Erigga on X.

The exchange began after Erigga praised musicians who had built their careers without financial backing from wealthy families.

“Shoutout to all the musicians who don’t come from family money and had to grind for every single dollar they earn,” Erigga wrote.

Davido challenged the premise, arguing that artists from wealthy backgrounds could also work hard to achieve success.

“No be we say make your pops no guard o. Shoutout to the ones that came from family money and still grind to the top,” he responded.

The singer subsequently criticised Erigga’s post as “useless motivation” and used an insult while responding to the rapper.

Davido then suggested that his long-term ambitions may extend beyond music, saying he would “soon leave their music” to pursue his goal of making billions.

He added that music could eventually become uninteresting to him once he turns his attention to other ventures.

Davido concluded the exchange by questioning whether people genuinely desire a life of financial hardship, asking, “Deep down, who like poverty?”

His comments have since sparked discussion among fans about his future in music and his ambitions beyond entertainment.
