Ayra Starr has revealed that the unstable electricity in her home country, Nigeria, was one thing that shaped her life in her younger years.
During the Global Citizen NOW event in New York City, Ayra Starr, the singer explained how the lack of power impacted many facets of her young life from education to her day-to-day life.
She mentioned how she used to help her grandmother sell tomatoes and pepper, adding that they would hurry with selling the products due to the lack of electricity for storing them properly.
The singer stated that such issues taught her resilience since a very young age and helped her to grow in such a way.
Speaking further about electricity, Ayra Starr admitted that access to stable power would have helped her a lot during her schooling times.
Moreover, according to the singer, such things as lighting and air-conditioning could make studying much easier for her.
In this regard, she used the chance to call upon all African politicians to focus on electricity access in order to guarantee a decent future to their children.
