Brooklyn Beckham has come under fire online after appearing in a DoorDash advertisement that many critics believe references his reported family feud with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
In the promotional campaign tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Brooklyn opens by saying viewers are probably wondering why he is watching the tournament from home. He then laughs and says, “It’s a long story,” before text appears on screen reading, “It’s complicated. More soon.”
The advertisement has sparked controversy because many viewers interpreted it as a reference to the ongoing tensions between Brooklyn and his famous family.
According to reports, sources close to David and Victoria Beckham were left upset by the advert, believing it made light of a painful family situation. Critics have accused Brooklyn of using the public interest surrounding the reported feud to promote a commercial partnership.
The backlash intensified because David and Victoria Beckham recently attended World Cup-related events in Los Angeles, leading some to believe the advertisement suggests Brooklyn stayed away due to their presence.
Online reactions were largely critical, with several social media users accusing Brooklyn of hypocrisy for reportedly seeking privacy while simultaneously referencing family tensions in a public advertising campaign.
The controversy comes amid continued speculation about the relationship between Brooklyn and his family. Recent reports claimed his sister, Harper Beckham, attempted to visit him at his Los Angeles home to deliver a letter, but the visit was brief because he was not there.
Brooklyn was also absent when David Beckham received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, despite other family members attending the ceremony.
Through a spokesperson, Brooklyn reportedly dismissed suggestions surrounding the family visit, describing it as a media-focused event.
