DJ Lamiez Holworthy Laughs Off Stage Fall During Electrifying Afro Nation Performance
South African DJ and television personality DJ Lamiez Holworthy has won praise from fans after laughing off an on-stage fall during her performance at the 2026 Afro Nation festival in Portugal.
Afro Nation delivers another star-studded weekend
The annual Afro Nation festival took place from July 3 to July 5 on the beaches of Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Algarve, bringing together some of the biggest names in Afrobeats and amapiano.
Thousands of music lovers gathered for the three-day event, which featured performances from international stars and a strong line-up of South African artists.
Lamiez and Njelic light up the Piano People stage
Holworthy took to the popular Piano People stage alongside fellow musician Njelic, delivering an energetic performance filled with the dance moves and stage chemistry that fans have come to love.
However, during one of the routines, the DJ appeared to lose her balance while attempting what looked like a vosho dance move and ended up falling on stage in front of thousands of fans.
DJ laughs off embarrassing moment
Instead of letting the incident ruin the performance, Holworthy embraced the moment and shared it with fans through a vlog posted on social media.
“There’s something about when you’re in your mid-thirties, the knees are not the same anymore,” she joked.
“Not me falling on stage sana, in front of thousands of people and Njelic struggled to pick me up, but I’m here, I’m alive. That was so much fun!”
Her humorous reaction quickly earned praise online, with many fans applauding her ability to laugh at herself and continue entertaining the crowd.
Fashion and music combine on stage
Despite the fall, Holworthy still turned heads with her stunning custom outfit designed by South African fashion designer Orapeleng Modutle.
The glamorous look perfectly matched the festive atmosphere and vibrant energy of Afro Nation.
South African stars dominate Afro Nation
Holworthy and Njelic were among several South African acts representing the country at the festival’s dedicated amapiano stage.
Festival-goers were also treated to standout performances from Kelvin Momo, Mawhoo, Amaroto, Daliwonga, DJ Lag, Felo Le Tee, LeeMcKrazy, Mellow & Sleazy, Nkosazana Daughter, Royal MusiQ and Scotts Maphuma.
The South African presence extended beyond the Piano People stage, with Grammy-winning singer Tyla performing as one of the headline acts on the Everything is Lit stage alongside Burna Boy, Uncle Waffles and Zee Nxumalo.
Another memorable Afro Nation moment
Although her fall briefly stole the spotlight, DJ Lamiez Holworthy’s positive attitude and determination to keep the show going turned the incident into one of the festival’s most memorable moments.
Her reaction once again highlighted why she remains one of South Africa’s most loved entertainers, proving that even a tumble on stage cannot stop the party.
