Dr Asamoah brings extensive institutional experience to the position having served as the EC’s Director of Finance, Director of the Training Centre and Head of Audit. He has also participated in several electoral exercises in Ghana and other African countries. His experience includes the 2012 and 2016 general elections, the 2010 and 2015 district-level elections and the 2019 referendum on the creation of six new regions.

His previous responsibilities within the Commission are expected to inform his contribution to its leadership and electoral administration. Agbenyo joins the Commission with experience in public policy, development planning and technical and vocational education and training.

She previously served as Deputy Director-General for Operations at the Ghana TVET Service and as a Commissioner of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC). Her professional background includes inclusive technical and vocational education and training, skills development, enterprise development, international development cooperation and gender transformation.

The appointments come as Ghana prepares for future electoral cycles with the Electoral Commission responsible for managing the country’s elections. The two deputy chairpersons will serve alongside the Commission’s leadership in overseeing its responsibilities and supporting the administration of the electoral process.

President Mahama’s charge places emphasis on impartiality and integrity as key principles for the conduct of their duties.
The appointments also bring together experience in electoral administration, financial oversight, public policy and development management within the Commission’s leadership.
