Makhadzi Speaks Out Over Dispute with Botswana Promoter
Award-winning South African singer Makhadzi has spoken out over a bitter dispute with a Botswana promoter, claiming she feels kidnapped, harassed and taken advantage of.
The Ghanama hitmaker made the allegations during a live social media broadcast, claiming the promoter had taken her passport, car and personal belongings following a financial disagreement.
The dispute reportedly involves a previous performance and promotional work for her upcoming One Woman Show.
Appearing distressed during the broadcast, Makhadzi said she was not approaching the situation peacefully and wanted her friends and supporters to understand what she was experiencing.
“I am not coming with peace. Maybe before I can talk, I want anyone who is my friend here to understand what I am going through,” she said.
The singer described feeling trapped, saying the situation had left her feeling as though she had been kidnapped.
“Even though it might not look like that in the background, the situation itself makes me feel like I am kidnapped. I feel like I am being taken advantage of,” she said.
She also accused those involved of harassing her, adding that she had reached breaking point.
“I feel like I am kidnapped, I am harassed, and it is just too much,” she said.
The dispute comes as Makhadzi prepares for her One Woman Show scheduled for 24 December at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
The Botswana-based promoter has reportedly worked with the singer since at least 2023, with his company handling her bookings and business dealings in the country.
The promoter’s response to the allegations was not included in the report.
