Holland takes on a bigger production role

Holland will produce the film alongside his brother, Harry Holland, and Will South, his partners at Billy17. The trio established the production company in 2024 as part of Holland’s ambition to become more involved in developing films and television projects, rather than focusing exclusively on acting.

The announcement marks another step in Holland’s efforts to build a career that combines performing with producing. Although he remains widely recognised for playing Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man, in Marvel Studios’ films, his growing production responsibilities are creating opportunities for him to contribute to projects from their early development stages.

Details about Penthouse, including its storyline, supporting cast and release date, have not yet been announced. The project is being developed as a thriller, with further information about its plot and production schedule still awaited.

Drew Pearce develops the original idea

The original concept for Penthouse was developed by Drew Pearce, who will also write the screenplay and serve as a co-producer.

Pearce’s involvement places him in a key creative role, helping shape the story while working alongside Holland and the other producers. However, the film’s central characters, setting and specific narrative details remain undisclosed.

With no release date confirmed, it is not yet clear when filming will begin or when audiences can expect to see the project. The announcement nevertheless adds another title to Billy17’s developing slate as Holland continues to expand his involvement in the entertainment industry.

Billy17 builds on Holland’s experience

Before launching Billy17, Holland had already gained experience behind the scenes through executive-producing projects in which he also appeared as an actor.

He executive produced Uncharted, the 2022 adventure film in which he played treasure hunter Nathan Drake. He also executive produced The Crowded Room, the 2023 psychological thriller series in which he portrayed Danny Sullivan.

These projects provided Holland with experience in production alongside his acting commitments. Establishing Billy17 has given him a more direct platform to pursue that work and collaborate with partners on projects in development.

When the company was launched in December 2024, Holland said becoming a producer had been an ambition of his for some time. The move reflected his interest in contributing to the creative and business decisions that shape productions, rather than participating only in front of the camera.

Sony Pictures deal expands opportunities

Billy17 subsequently secured a producing deal with Sony Pictures, allowing the company to develop projects for the studio. The arrangement gives Holland and his partners another route to bring new productions into development.

Alongside Penthouse, Billy17 has been developing a film titled Burnt, in which Holland is also expected to star and serve as a producer. The project further demonstrates the company’s approach of combining Holland’s acting involvement with his growing production responsibilities.

The extent of Holland’s role across these projects will depend on their development and eventual production plans. For now, both titles represent opportunities for him to take part in shaping stories while continuing to act.

Acting remains part of Holland’s plans

Holland’s expansion into producing does not indicate that he intends to leave acting behind. Instead, his latest projects suggest that he is pursuing both areas of the industry.

His work as Spider-Man remains among his most recognisable screen roles, but his involvement in Billy17 gives him a platform to explore other types of stories and creative responsibilities.

With Penthouse joining the company’s slate, Holland is continuing to build a career that extends beyond performing. Further details about the thriller are expected to clarify the project’s direction as development progresses.
