Tyla Shuts Down Roc Nation Signing Rumours and Confirms Release Date for New Album
South African music sensation Tyla has put an end to speculation that she has signed with Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, clarifying that reports linking her to the label are false.
The Grammy-winning singer addressed the rumours directly on her Instagram Story after days of online speculation and media reports claimed she had joined Roc Nation’s roster.
“I’m not signed to Roc Nation. But my album A*POP drops 24/7 (24 JULY 2026),” the singer wrote, using the opportunity to remind fans about the release date of her highly anticipated second studio album.
The rumours gained momentum after a digital billboard featuring Tyla appeared in New York’s Times Square, prompting several publications to report that she had signed a global deal with the company founded by rap mogul Jay-Z.
However, Tyla’s statement appears to have ended the speculation. A look at Roc Nation’s official website also shows that the Johannesburg-born star is not listed among the company’s artists.
The reports additionally sparked questions over Tyla’s relationship with her current record label, Epic Records, with some fans speculating that she may have left the company. However, the singer still appears on Epic Records’ official artist roster, suggesting she remains signed to the label.
Despite the rumours, Tyla has kept her focus firmly on her music and her upcoming album, APOP*, which is set for release on July 24.
The project marks the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her self-titled debut album, which propelled her to international stardom and earned her widespread acclaim.
In recent weeks, the singer has been actively building excitement around the new project, both online and through live performances. Fresh from her appearance at Afro Nation Portugal, Tyla treated fans to performances of songs including Is It, She Did It Again and Jump, further raising anticipation for the new album.
The star has also offered fans a glimpse into the creative journey behind APOP*, revealing that she intentionally chose to complete the project in South Africa.
Speaking in a recent interview, Tyla explained that she organised a recording camp at a lodge in the Cradle of Humankind, where temporary studios were built in the middle of nature.
She said she wanted the environment to reflect the places her parents took her to as a child and hoped the setting would help her reconnect with her younger self while making the album.
According to the singer, the experience was both challenging and inspiring, with recording equipment having to be connected through the surrounding bush.
Surrounded by wildlife, including monkeys and insects, Tyla said the experience felt almost cinematic, joking that it was like being in The Lion King while creating the project.
As excitement builds ahead of the album’s release, Tyla has made one thing clear: while the Roc Nation rumours may have captured attention, her main priority remains sharing the next chapter of her musical journey with fans around the world.
