Zimbabwe has donated 10 tonnes of food supplies to communities in Botswana’s drought-prone Bobirwa District. The assistance was delivered to Mophato Volunteers through ZimAid, Zimbabwe’s foreign assistance programme.
ZimAid operates under Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Works with the Civil Protection Unit and private-sector partners to provide humanitarian assistance.
The donation is expected to support communities affected by recurring drought conditions and food insecurity in Bobirwa. The initiative also highlights cooperation between Zimbabwe and Botswana two countries with longstanding ties.
The two countries regularly work together on regional issues. The food assistance comes as drought continues to pose challenges for communities in parts of the region, where vulnerable households can face increased pressure on food supplies and livelihoods.
Through ZimAid Zimbabwe provides support in response to identified needs working with government agencies and other partners. The Bobirwa donation reflects the role of cooperation in responding to humanitarian challenges affecting communities across southern Africa.
