As Ramadan enters its second week, families in Gaza Strip are observing the holy month under the shadow of destruction and displacement.
Many residents remain unable to return home, while others continue searching for missing relatives believed to be trapped beneath collapsed buildings. At Al-Shifa Hospital, families gathered after overnight drone strikes reportedly killed several people, including police officers and civilians, according to local officials.
Despite a fragile ceasefire in place since late 2025, hospitals are still receiving casualties, raising concerns about long-term stability.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, warned that continued military operations and displacement could permanently reshape Palestinian communities. Israeli authorities have rejected such claims, stating their operations are directed at militant groups.
For many in Gaza, this Ramadan is marked less by celebration and more by reflection, uncertainty, and mourning.
