Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to co-produce a new war film for Netflix through their production company, Archewell.
The upcoming feature film will be based on the book No Way Out by Adam Jowett, which recounts the true story of British soldiers defending a military compound in Musa Qala, Afghanistan, during intense Taliban attacks in 2006.
The project carries personal significance for Prince Harry, who served in the British Army for a decade and completed two tours in Afghanistan before leaving military service in 2015. He has remained closely connected to military veterans through initiatives such as the Invictus Games Foundation.
The screenplay is being written by Matt Charman, best known for co-writing the Oscar-nominated film Bridge of Spies directed by Steven Spielberg.
The film becomes the latest collaboration between the Sussexes and Netflix following several previous projects, including documentary and scripted productions. Their partnership with the streaming giant was restructured last year into a “first-look” agreement, giving Netflix the option to approve or decline future projects from the couple.
The original book, published in 2019, tells the story of British troops who fought to survive while under siege in one of Afghanistan’s most dangerous Taliban-controlled regions.
