K.O Teases Massive Hip Hop Event for the Next Chapter of His Career
South African Rap Icon Plans Big Return to the Stage
South African hip hop star K.O has revealed that he is preparing a major live event that could become one of the biggest rap shows of the year. The award-winning rapper shared the news during an interview on YFM’s The Agenda with DJ Sliqe and Roiii.
A Major Announcement Is Coming Soon
Although K.O kept most of the details under wraps, he assured fans that the event is definitely happening and that an official announcement will be made in the coming weeks.
“More business, more growth. Right now I’m busy putting together a huge show that’s planned to happen in the fourth quarter this year,” he said.
He added that fans should be on the lookout because the event will be “big, big, big.”
A Career Built on Consistency
K.O, whose real name is Ntokozo Mdluli, has spent more than two decades shaping South African hip hop. He first rose to fame as a member of the rap group Teargas alongside Ma-E and Ntukza before launching a successful solo career.
The rapper introduced the popular Skhanda rap movement, blending traditional kwaito sounds with modern hip hop and creating a unique style that resonated with fans across the country.
Hit Songs That Changed the Game
His solo breakthrough came in 2014 with the release of Caracara, a song that became a cultural phenomenon and helped redefine the local hip hop scene.
Since then, K.O has released several successful projects, including Skhanda Republic, Skhanda Republic 2, PTY UnLTD, SR3, and his latest offering, Phara City.
Thriving in a Changing Music Industry
Even as Amapiano became South Africa’s dominant genre, K.O managed to remain relevant. His smash hit SETE became one of the country’s biggest songs, while tracks such as 20 Summers, Hotela and Supanova have kept him among the industry’s top performers.
The rapper previously credited his longevity to staying adaptable and continuously learning from others in the music business.
“Your availability is your currency,” K.O said in an earlier interview. “By interacting with other people, opportunities come your way, and you also learn and recalibrate.”
Fans Await More Details
With anticipation already building, many hip hop fans are eager to see what K.O has planned. If his past success is anything to go by, the upcoming event could become a major celebration of South African rap and another milestone in the veteran artist’s impressive career.
