Ghanaian dancehall artiste Kaakie has earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice qualification. Has opened a mental health practice in the United States. This new chapter goes beyond Kaakie’s music career. Signals a fresh start for Kaakie.
Born Grace Kaki Awo Ocansey Kaakie now goes by Dr Grace Aidoo, DNP, APRN, PMHNP‑BC. Kaakie has recently launched Kaylora Holistic Wellness & Recovery a place that offers therapeutic services.
Kaakie’s practice provides evaluations, medication management, ADHD care and treatment for anxiety and depression. It also helps with disorder and trauma‑related conditions. Psychotherapy, couples’ therapy and child and adolescent psychiatric care are available. Telehealth services are offered too.
Kaakie’s move into healthcare builds on Kaakie’s nursing work. Kaakie studied nursing and midwifery at the University of Ghana. Later Kaakie gained recognition on the television music competition Stars of the Future.
Kaakie later became a leading voice in Ghana’s dancehall scene. Kaakie released songs like “Ewoo ” ” Much,” and “Toffee Pon Tongue.” Kaakie won Best New Artiste of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year at the 2013 Ghana Music Awards.
Kaakie stepped away from music to focus on healthcare and study more. Kaakie earned a master’s degree from Anglia Ruskin University in 2019. Kaakie also earned a mental health nursing degree from Walden University in 2025.
