Dhlomo shared the news live with co-hosts Mpho Maboi and Mfundo Mabalane, revealing that his departure had been planned for some time and was not the result of any internal issues.

“I made the decision a year ago,” he said, adding that his time at the station had been fulfilling. He described his six-year run as the longest he has stayed at any radio station, saying, “It’s been a great time. It has been a great time.”

The presenter said his final day is expected around the end of June, when his contract concludes. While he will step away from the station, he indicated he plans to take a six-month break before announcing his next career move.

Dhlomo also reflected on his relationship with colleagues and listeners, saying the Kaya 959 audience played a major role in his long tenure. He expressed appreciation for both his team and his supporters, noting that he will miss them deeply.

Although he has not revealed his next destination, Dhlomo confirmed he has already built a home studio and is working on upcoming projects, including a collaboration with Sony. He, however, declined to give further details.

The announcement sparked an emotional reaction from listeners, many of whom expressed disappointment at his departure.
