Argentina Star Could Move on Loan With Option to Buy
Aston Villa are in advanced discussions with Chelsea over a deal to sign winger Alejandro Garnacho, with the move potentially including an obligation to buy.
The 21-year-old Argentina international was made available for transfer by Chelsea last month, with the club initially valuing him at around £43m.
However, Chelsea are now open to a loan arrangement that could lead to a permanent transfer if certain conditions are met.
Garnacho Linked With Villa Move After Chelsea Changes
The talks come shortly after Chelsea agreed a record £117m deal to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
Following that agreement, discussions began over a separate deal that could see Garnacho and Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson move to Villa Park.
Jackson, who is also available for transfer, has been valued at around £65m by Chelsea.
If completed, Garnacho would become Villa’s fourth signing of a busy summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Kaba Cisse.
Chelsea Looking to Reduce Squad Size
Chelsea are keen to move on from Garnacho despite signing him only last September in a £40m deal from Manchester United.
The move would also benefit Manchester United, who are reportedly entitled to 10% of any future transfer fee involving the winger.
Garnacho’s time at Stamford Bridge has not gone as expected, with the forward scoring only one Premier League goal since joining the club.
The competition for places has increased following Chelsea’s move for Rogers and the arrival of Sporting winger Geovany Quenda.
The Blues are now looking to reduce the size of their squad and create space for new additions.
Villa Continue Major Squad Reshuffle
Aston Villa have been active in the transfer market, balancing new arrivals with significant player departures.
The club has raised nearly £200m through sales, with players including Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea and Lewis Dobbin leaving.
A move for Garnacho would add another attacking option for Villa as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
