Ukrainian Woman Wanted Over Monaco Parcel Bombing as International Manhunt Intensifies
Authorities in Monaco have launched an international search for a Ukrainian woman accused of carrying out a parcel bomb attack that seriously injured three people, including a wealthy businessman and his family.
Investigators have identified 39-year-old Anastasiia Berezovska as the main suspect in the explosion, which occurred at the entrance of an apartment building in Monaco on Monday evening.
According to Monaco’s deputy prosecutor, Morgan Raymond, the suspect allegedly disguised herself as a man before leaving the explosive package at the building shortly before 9:00 p.m. local time. The device exploded moments later as residents entered the property.
The blast left three people injured. Two adults suffered serious injuries and were transferred to Nice University Hospital in France for treatment, while a 13-year-old boy sustained minor injuries and was admitted to a children’s hospital in Nice. Officials later confirmed that the male victim’s condition had improved, while the injured woman remained in serious condition.
Although Monaco’s authorities have not officially identified the victims, local media reports say the attack targeted businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, his partner and their teenage son.
Yermolaiev is a prominent real estate developer who has been living in Monaco. He previously renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and became a citizen of Cyprus. In recent years, he has faced sanctions from the Ukrainian government over business interests linked to Russian-annexed Crimea.
Investigators believe Berezovska spent several days monitoring the family’s residence before carrying out the attack.
Surveillance footage reportedly captured the suspect wearing dark clothing and a bucket hat before she fled the scene on foot. Authorities believe she later collected a rental vehicle, travelled through Italy and eventually crossed into Germany.
An Interpol Red Notice has now been issued, requesting law enforcement agencies in 196 member countries to locate and provisionally arrest the suspect pending legal proceedings. She is wanted on allegations including attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent and criminal conspiracy.
Monaco’s investigators are also searching for possible accomplices who may have assisted in planning or carrying out the attack.
German authorities have confirmed that special police units searched an apartment rented by the suspect in the Main-Taunus district of Hesse. Officers also seized and searched a vehicle believed to have been used during her escape.
German officials said evidence recovered during the operation will be handed over to Monaco’s authorities as the investigation continues. However, the suspect was not found during the search and remains at large.
Prince Albert II of Monaco condemned the bombing, describing it as a “heinous crime” and expressing support for the victims and the ongoing investigation.
Authorities continue to urge international cooperation as efforts intensify to locate the suspect and determine whether others were involved in the attack.
The investigation remains active, with officials working across multiple countries to establish the motive behind the bombing and bring those responsible to justice.
